I call this Julie’s bread, because Julie gave me the recipe. I no longer remember how I knew her which is a shame. I blame it on the little grey cells. They are going, going, all to soon to be gone.
- 3 1/1 cups self raising flour
- 1 – 2 teaspoons sugar
- Salt to taste
- Can of draft beer (not diet beer)
Place flour in a bowl, make a well in the centre, add beer. Stir with knife until the mixture turns into a dough like consistency. Turn onto floured bench or board and knead until dough has an elastic texture. Place in a greased loaf tin.
Heat oven to approximately 375 degrees Celcius 190 degrees Farenheit. Bake for 3/ 4 hour or until ready. To check if it is ready tap with knuckle gently and if the bread sounds hollow it is ready.
