I know it’s a cheat, but thought I might encourage visitors to visit if I made a start at the guest recipes section with one of my own, or at least one that I pinched from my sister. She probably got it from somebody else at some time. That’s the trouble when you reach a certain age especially if you are pre-internet. Most of the recipes would have been handed down by word of mouth. Our recipes have been adapted, adjusted and made our very own over a period of many years.
This is a sort of flourless chocolate cake. I haven’t made it myself, but my sister has and she can vouch for it. According to her, it is the richest, moistest chocolate cake you ever tasted.
6 oz. (170 grams) unsalted butter
6 oz. castor sugar
6 oz melted chocolate (It doesn’t have to be the best quality but please, please don’t use compound chocolate)
6 oz. ground poppyseed
Cream butter and sugar, add yolks, then melted, cooled chocolate and ground
poppyseed, then fold in beaten egg-whites. Bake in moderate oven 45
