It's friendship

It’s friendship

‘It’s friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship
When other friendships have been forgot
Ours will still be hot

Happy sapphire Anniversary to me. If any of you want to know the secret to my success you won’t read about it here. There is no secret and everybody is different as are the expectations, cultural or otherwise.

We are living in modern times and things have changed. Marriage is no longer necessarily a union between a man and a woman. I can only say that no matter who your partner is (note how we’re calling each other partner these days? that’s because it’s about friendship not ownership) the fundamentals to success are or should be: don’t give up too easily; in the long run it’s the little things that count so take notice and (I can’t emphasise this enough) communicate and listen in your turn.

Euww, see what I did after saying I wouldn’t, I’ve given you the recipe for a successful relationship. What the hell, I’m entitled to a bit of a lecture after 45 years and you have to admit, it is a little one. Plus, I insist that it’s my opinion, not necessarily yours. And my relationship isn’t without its flaws; I just try to make the good things balance out the bad. And I stomp hard on people who say ‘happy wife, happy life.’ Because that’s not partnership.

  1. Happy 45th! That’s a mighty big number and not one I’m likely to see. Unless I live to be 97. That means he’ll be 102. If he stays away from ladders and chainsaws.

    • We are longer lived these days, Maggie, so who knows. Regardless of age, you are definitely right about the ladders and chainsaws. Lots of do it yourself type accidents happening at home. Thanks for visiting.
